Winstar World is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The All You Need Is Now Tour at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, OK, USA on 18 March 2011.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at WinStar World Casino, a venue located on the Oklahoma-Texas border, one mile north of the Red River. This was the band's fourth US show of 2011.
Despite three decades plus of extensive touring, this was only the band’s second concert in Oklahoma; the first one took place the same day the music video for "The Reflex” was first screened to Duran Duran in an Oklahma City hotel 27 years ago, on 9 April 1984.
With doors opening at 7:30pm, the show began at 9:00pm four days before the American release of All You Need Is Now on CD, the following Tuesday.
Duran Duran took to the stage and opened by showcasing two tracks from their new album. Several more songs followed and then it was back to 1981 with "Friends of Mine", which was well received by the audience.
Before "Mediterranea", Simon Le Bon said "This song is about the English love affair with the summer holidays". A lengthy version of "Girls on Film" closed the show, which included band introductions and a "Papa Was A Rollin' Stone" interlude.
