Vancouver is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Red Carpet Massacre Tour at the General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC, Canada on 29 April 2008.
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at the General Motors Place, a 19,000 capacity venue located at 800 Griffiths Way in the downtown area of Vancouver. This was the first of three Canadian dates on the tour.
The show kicked-off Duran Duran's North American tour, performed on a stage featuring huge "Girls on Film" style walls of flashbulbs.
After British rock band Your Vegas opened the show, Duran Duran took to the stage wearing matching Patty Palazzo designed screen-printed black suits. Driving right into tracks from their latest album Red Carpet Massacre, Duran Duran started with "The Valley".
The band soon ripped into their fourth song, a turbocharged version of "Planet Earth".
At the midway point of the show, Duran Duran revamped some of their best-loved material during a 20 minute electro set. An extended medley that started with "All She Wants Is" and built to a cover of "Warm Leatherette".
The evening finished with an encore featuring Simon Le Bon comically mouthing the words “Rio”, when he asked the audience what they wanted to hear.
