Turkey 1993 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Dilate Your Mind Tour at the Çeşme '93 Festival, Çeşme Amphitheatre, Çeşme in Izmir, Turkey on 31 August 1993.

About the album[]

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Çeşme Amphitheatre, a 5,000 capacity venue located in the coastal town of Çeşme in Turkey's western-most end. This was Duran Duran's first ever show in Turkey.

The Çeşme Festival is the Aegean region’s leading art and culture event, which features renowned musicians and an international song contest.

This was an open-air show held under a full moon, broadcast live on Turkish TV and also included Peter Gabriel, Sinead O'Connor and Snoopy Husnu Baylav.

Duran Duran took to the stage and launched the show with their debut single "Planet Earth". Two more songs from the 80s followed, including an acoustic version of "Hungry Like the Wolf".

Then Simon Le Bon introduced "Ordinary World" from their latest release Duran Duram. He said "This is a song about something we all share, regardless of race, colour, religion and language. Its something which will never even belong to us. Its the place we live, its all we have, the ordinary world."

During the evening, Yolisa Phahle performed strings on an acoustic rendition of "Girls on Film", giving the song a different twist. Le Bon wore only white shorts for the first live performance of "Love Voodoo", another new song from the Duran Duran album.

Le Bon's voice suffered throughout the concert, which was particularly noticeable on "Notorious", "The Reflex" and "Rio". In fact the day after he lost his voice during the Rotterdam show, whilst singing "Hungry Like the Wolf".
