The second year recording their 15th album. Progress slows due to a global pandemic scare. John begins a series of interviews and bass tutorials.

Jan 9 It is announced that in their only Danish performance in 2020, Duran Duran will return to Scandinavia to headline the iconic Jelling Musikfestival on Saturday, the 30th of May.
Jan ? Later in the month the band confirm a headlining spot at Rock in Rio Lisboa.
Jan ? PBS (US/Canada Public Broadcasting Station) air Duran Duran’s 2011 live concert film A DIAMOND IN THE MIND for their March pledge drive. New interviews with Simon & Nick, recorded at the end of 2019, are used through out the programming.
Jan 23 Fan bootleg album Medazzaland Album Live (Reimagined) released on youtube, featuring live and alternative takes of songs. Reuploaded 3rd July 2021. (YouTube).
Jan 25 Nick went to the Scottish Highlands for Burns Night. (Source).

Mar 10 Duran Duran is announced at the final headliner for the BST Hyde Park on 12 July. Both Gwen Stefani and Nile Rodgers & Chic will be on the bill with others expected to be added.

Mar ? It is announced that Duran Duran’s A Diamond in the Mind will be released as a limited edition Pink (transparent) Double LP Gatefold, including Bonus-Track “Is There Something I Should Know?” for Record Store Day Germany in June.
Mar 10 Nick and John attended an Andy Warhol Retrospective at the Tate Modern, which Nick says was wonderfully curated. (Rhodes Website), (Promo Video).
Mar 19 Duran Duran announce they had to take a break from recording their 15th studio album because of the Coronavirus pandemic, which made them unable to go in to the Studio. Nick mentioned in several later interviews that they were "two weeks" from completing the recording sessions.
Mar 20 The band started a weekly Twitter video chat with fans. Simon hosts the first chat on March 20
Mar 24 The Isle of Wright Festival postpones their Festival, which was meant to take place June 11-14, with Duran Duran headlining the Sunday evening bill.

Apr 4 Rock in Rio Lisboa postpone their festival for one year.
Apr 4 John flys to L.A to be with his family during lockdown, but upon landing starts to feel ill.
Apr 5 John Taylor posts a note on the band’s social media channels that he tested positive for Covid-19 but wanted fans to know that the illness “isn’t always a killer, and we can and will beat this thing.”
Apr 6 The Jelling MusikFestival announce their postponement.

April 11 Nick accepts Duran Duran’s “Spirit of Yuri’s Night” award, in acknowledgement of the group’s influence on the style and aesthetics of space and the future, with a video in which he remembers the moon landings.
April 20 Nick pays tribute to wildlife photographer Peter Beard: “I’m sad to hear that Peter Beard has left our world. He was truly one of life’s great adventurers, curious and fearless to the end. He seized every moment and and devoured it with intense joy. His energy and profound belief in natural beauty and art was an inspiration.”
Apr 20 Record Store Day is held, an event when all independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art
Apr 21 Simon and Katy record their first weekly radio show called WHOOOSH! on Duran Duran Radio. Simon chooses the songs and the pair discuss his choices and more. There is also a Massive Spotify playlist with all the songs they play on the Radio show.
Apr 26 Roger Taylor is 60 years old today.
Apr 26 For his April 26 birthday, Roger put together a House Party playlist on Spotify and left a special birthday video message for fans to thank them for all the greetings they left.
Apr 30 Nick and John post an instagram message in aid of Sing Street Broadway's Covid 19 appeal. John plays bass while Nick talks. (Instagram).
May 4 Nick made a 2.5 hour appearance with Italy’s famed DJ Red Ronnie for his first live interview on social media. It aired on Ronnie’s Facebook and YouTube channel, and two young fans had a great time participating with Nick.
May 6 Nick writes a tribute to Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk when news of his passing was made public on May 6. He was a hero of Nick’s, both as a musician and a performer.
May 7 John debuts Stone Love Bass Odyssey tutorial, showing fans how the band put together the track “Planet Earth.” (YouTube). After the first episode debuted, John and Chromeo’s Dave 1 did a LIVE Instagram chat together. (Instagram).
May 10 John talks about his Stone Love series on MusicRadar.com. (Link).
May 12 The band post a live version of their song, Ordinary World on their website; the song was recorded in September, 2017 at a show in Tokyo, Japan.
May 12 Nick posts news on Instagram of a prize draw, in aid of the Covid 19 pandemic. (Instagram).
May ? Roger starts filming a series of Desert Island Discs for duranduran.com, featuring meaningful songs that changed his life. The audio is very loud, while Roger is very quiet. Bands include Generation X, Stevie Wonder and Queen.

Jul Duranasty's July issue posts news of the DD 40th Anniversary Anthology project. Nick "What I would really like to do is an anthology, or Duranthology as it’s know locally, where we resurrect few tracks that never got finished, and Don't Look Back is the first thing that comes to mind." and “instrumental versions of tracks we never got a vocal for, all things that would make the anthology more special”. Aug 10 Duran Duran Appreciation Day. August 10 brought the 2020 Duran Duran Appreciation Day and featured a LIVE chat between Nick and John on Instagram. Nick says the album was two weeks away from being completed when the lockdown started.
Aug 12 It was announced that Duran Duran would be participating in National Album Day UK by releasing their first record, Duran Duran (1981 album), on white vinyl.

Sept 15 Nick appeared on the CHAPLIN TALKS podcast with Charlie Chaplin’s grandson Spencer, talking about Charlie, the world’s first superstar.
Sept 11 The band celebrated the 5th anniversary of PAPER GODS with a post on Duran Duran.com. John lists 5 reasons he loves the album. Nick provides a colourful photo gallery. Roger and Simon share some thoughts. (Link).
Oct 5 The band announce the “Touch the Sunrise” weekend, taking place in Ibiza (rescheduled to October 8–11, 2021 - then postponed). The entire weekend was to be devoted to Duran Duran, culminating in a live performance by the band.

Oct 30 Former Duran Duran front man Andy Wickett released Dreaming of Your Cars - 1979 Demos Part 2. The collection of 4 songs included a rough version of what would become To The Shore, available as a pre-order digital download, or specially pressed pink vinyl.
Oct 31 Roger and Nick get in to the spirit of Halloween with playlists they made for the big day. Nick curated 13 pieces of music from movie soundtracks for Halloween, while Roger compiled a list of 15 songs with spooky names. You can listen to Roger’s here and Nick’s here!
Oct 31 Nick announces a collaboration with the Vinyl Factory on the release of a new photo book called Bei Incubi (project).
Nov 4 JT’s at it again! On November 4 he is a guest on The 500 Podcast with Josh Adam Meyers, discussing Roxy Music.
Nov 6 Nick's Bei Incubi (project) is released, featuring two songs on signed 7" Vinyl by Nick - Bei Incubi (song) and Bei Incubi (Classical). The pack also contains a Gilt-Edged Ultra Glossy Hardback Book (signed), presenting photographs from the original Bei Incubi exhibition. And a Hand Silk-screened art printed on 300gsm Somerset Velvet (signed). The collection is limited to 300 stamped copies, available from The Vinyl Factory.

Nov 30 The band announces that they’ve re-scheduled their BST Hyde Park show for 11 July, 2021 with special guests Nile Rodgers & CHIC and Grace Jones.
Dec 1 The band post a video on facebook (Link), to promote a new book The Collapsing Symphony, limited to 500 COPIES. The book features Nick’s archives and surrealistic collages by Rory McCartney, available exclusively in the Duran Duran web store. (Link).

Dec 15 Andy Taylor's Nobody's Business is released. This is an unofficial release put together by the DD Fan Club. The Limited Collector's Edition 2CD features an 11-track album of original music (shelved from 1988), 35 minutes worth of bonus material, a 25 minute Japanese media interview from 1986, with a 12-page full color picture booklet outlining the making of Nobody's Business, including an exclusive postcard of Andy Taylor photo by Liz Wuillermin. Dec 25 Fan bootleg film Laughing with... Duran Duran - The Movie is released on YouTube; a 50min compilation of funny moments. Extra clips are seen in a trailer for the film, released Oct 31st. (Trailer), (Film).

Dec Late John is interviewed for the 'Please Kill Me' website, talking about the history of the band. He says they are hoping for a Spring 2021 release date for new material.
