The Sound of 2004 is an unofficial Duran Duran compilation album, featuring a collection of Astronaut album related tracks.

About the album[]

All the songs were written when the five original band members based themselves in the south of France, writing and recording intermittently throughout 2002 and 2003.

Meanwhile Duran Duran searched for a record label and during this period a 'teaser CD' with short demo versions of six unfinished songs was leaked to the Internet. This was quickly copied throughout the band's fan base. This album feaures all those songs.

These songs were "Virus", "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise", "TV vs. Radio", "Taste the Summer", "Salt in the Rainbow" and "Pretty Ones", which are all included on this album.

The compilation also features the unreleased "Beautiful Colours", a song Duran Duran performed during The Reunion Tour.
