The Essential Collection - UK: 724352425426 is a compilation album by Duran Duran, released in the UK by EMI Gold on 20 March 2000.

The album was later re-issued seven years later on 15 January 2007.

About the album[]

This is a collection of songs by the original five band members of Duran Duran, recorded during the early years of the 1980s.

The tracks were taken from the albums Duran Duran and Rio, with the addition of three B-sides "Fame", "Like An Angel" and "Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)".

"Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)" is a cover of Steve Harley's song, recorded live at the Hammersmith Odeon on 16 November 1982. This recording was also released in 2009 on Live at Hammersmith '82!.

The album front cover features Duran Duran photography by Nancy Campbell.
