"Thank You" is a cover song by Duran Duran, released as the title track on the album Thank You by Capitol-EMI on 4 April 1995.

About the song[]

Written by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page of the British rock band Led Zeppelin, the song was originally released on their Led Zeppelin 2 album in 1969. The song was written about Robert Plant then-wife Maureen. The first lines of lyrics heavily resemble those of Jimi Hendrix's "If 6 Was 9".

Duran Duran recorded the song for Thank You, which was an attempt to keep the peace among band members who had increasing trouble writing music together. It was also a tribute to the band's influences.

The track also features on the 1994 movie soundtrack of With Honors.

Lyrics[]

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.

If the mountains should crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me.

Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.

But my love is strong, with you there is no wrong,

together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.

Inspiration's what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,

Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.

Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.

If the mountains should crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me.
