"Tabula Rasa" is an intrumental song by Duran Duran, which was recorded in demo form, but never produced or released.
About the Song[]
Warren, John, and Steve Alexander record fourteen tracks together at Metropolis Studios, London, in April 1995 - Including "Butt Naked" (with John on vocals), "Tabula Rasa" (later scrapped), and tracks that will become "Midnight Sun", "Medazzaland", "Big Bang Generation", and "So Long Suicide".
The song is a three piece combo of drums, bass and lead guitar. Warren strums two fat licks at the start of each bar, and improvises over the rest - accompanied by Steve and John. It was not rated strong enough to be taken further when Simon and Nick got back onboard, and was dropped.
A rough demo of the song was recorded through the wall of the studio by fans, and was released on the "Medazzaland Demos". At the time, nobody knew what this song was, so the version on Medazzaland Demos is labelled as 'Untitled (Instrumental)'. The 2:44 minute version of this demo also contains some background chatter at the start.
