Sydney: March 28, 2008 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Red Carpet Massacre Tour at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 28 March 2008.
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, a 12,500 capacity venue located in Haymarket, Sydney. This was the first of six shows performed in Australia on the tour.
Playing the same stage at the Sydney Entertainment Centre back in 1984, Duran Duran opened this Friday show with three songs from the Red Carpet Massacre album. When the band broke out with "Hungry Like the Wolf", the audience were on their feet dancing.
The second part of the show was a Kraftwerk tribute, featuring the four remaining original members standing at the front of the stage behind keyboards and drum machines. During this 20 minute electro set new song versions were performed, including "All She Wants Is" and "Skin Trade".
The final part featured Duran Duran playing a rockier remix of "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise", a song actually released as a dance remix.
Near the end Simon Le Bon took to a front-rower's Australian flag and draped it over himself. It never went back to the audience.
Tickets for the event cost around $119.90 Australian Dollars.
The bootleg is missing 19 songs from the setlist.
The concert poster features photography by Stephanie Pistel.
