Seeking Major Tom is a cover song album by William Shatner, released by Cleopatra Records on 17 October 2011. The album features a cover version of Duran Duran's "Planet Earth".

About the album

The album was recorded by William Shatner, a Canadian actor, recording artist, and author who gained worldwide fame for his portrayal of James T. Kirk in the science fiction television series Star Trek from 1966 to 1969. This is Shatner's first work since the 2004 release of Has Been, and features a collection of space-themed cover songs performed in the musical style of Heavy Metal.

Seeking Major Tom features musical guests and collaborators on each track. Guests include Ian Paice of Deep Purple performing on "Space Trucking", a song originally released by Deep Purple. Steve Howe, guitarist with Yes contributes to "Planet Earth".

The album is available in two formats, a two-disc CD version as well as a three-disc vinyl edition.
