SXSW Music Festival is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The All You Need Is Now Tour at the SXSW Music Festival, Time Out, Stubb's BBQ in Austin, TX, USA on 16 March 2011
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at Time Out, a 1800 capacity outdoor venue located at 801 Red River in Austin. This was the second show performed by the band in the state of Texas in 2011.
The SXSW (South by Southwest) is one of the largest music festivals in the United States, with more than 2,000 performers playing in more than 90 venues around downtown Austin over four days, in March. Though it is an industry-based event, SXSW Music links locally with events such as the annual Austin Music Awards show and Heart of Texas Rock Fest.
"The name of this band is Duran Duran!" shouted frontman Simon Le Bon as his band took to the stage in Austin just after midnight. Headlining Stubb's outdoor stage during the opening night of 2011's SXSW, Duran Duran kicked off with "A View to a Kill". "This is the beginning of Duran Duran's world tour, right here at Stubb's!" Le Bon said, as he introduced the next song "Being Followed". "Notorious" soon followed, a song which the audience sang along to.
The bootleg is incomplete, missing "Safe", "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise" and "Girls on Film" from the setlist.
