Rum Runner is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded at the Rum Runner in Birmingham, UK on on 6 August 1980.

About the album[]

The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Rum Runner, a former nightclub venue located at 273 Broad Street in the centre of Birmingham.

This is one of the earliest recordings of Duran Duran, taken several weeks after Simon Le Bon first performed with the band on 16 July 1980.

The album was recorded by a fan at Paul and Michael Berrow's Rum Runner nightclub, where Duran Duran were the resident band in the late 1970s/early 1980s.

All the songs included on the album were unreleased at the time. These include "Girls on Film" and "Late Bar", which were written before Le Bon joined the band. "Girls on Film" features lyrics written by Andy Wickett. "Late Bar" is a song originally titled "Breaking Away".

A few days before this show, Duran Duran recorded a studio demo of "Girls on Film" at London's AIR Studios, which is available on the Duran Duran (2 CD/DVD) album.
