Roseland Ballroom NYC 1988 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Secret Caravan Club Tour at the Roseland Ballroom in New York, NY, USA on 4 November 1988.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Roseland Ballroom, a 1,800 capacity venue located at 239 West 52nd Street in New York. The show was the only date performed in the state of New York on the tour.
This was the last stop on the US tour for Duran Duran, who were appearing at the Roseland Ballroom for the very first time. The band, led by Simon Le Bon on vocals, John Taylor on bass, and Nick Rhodes on keyboards were precise on the sound and had the audience on their feet for the whole evening.
Duran Duran touring with their newest release, Big Thing, played a number of songs from the album, including, "Do You Believe in Shame?" written about the band's fallen friends: record producer Alex Sadkin, artist Andy Warhol, and Simon Le Bon's childhood friend David Miles.
In addition to this, the band performed some of their greatest hits, such as "Notorious", "The Wild Boys", "The Reflex", and the nights finale, "Rio".
Duran Duran would return to the venue in 1997 and then ten years later for the 2007 Broadway shows.
