Queen of Hearts is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, featuring songs recorded at the Diana Tribute Concert, Althorp House in Northampton, UK on 27 June 1998.

About the album[]

The album begins with Duran Duran's performance at Althorp House, a stately home in Northamptonshire that's been the ancestral home of Princess Diana's Spencer family since the 16th century and is her final resting place.

Around 15,000 people gathered for the concert in aid of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

The event included many acts Princess Diana admired and also met during her life, including Chris De Burgh and Sir Cliff Richard. Duran Duran were also connected with her life, with their performance in front of the Prince & Princess of Wales at the Prince's Trust Rock Gala in 1983.

Diana's brother Earl Spencer wrote in the concert programme: "My family and I are delighted that we can host a concert at Althorp to celebrate her life, in the most fitting of ways. "She would be thrilled at the variety of performers assembled here today, reflecting her own eclectic taste, just as I know she would be touched that so many of you have come here to join in a concert that will raise substantial sums for her memorial fund."

Duran Duran began their set at 12:20 am, which featured the first ever UK performance of "Electric Barbarella". Finishing with "Rio", Simon Le Bon said "She was a party girl and that was our ultimate fun song." BBC One broadcast highlights of the concert on the following Wednesday evening.

Tickets for the event cost £39.50.

Nine years later Duran Duran performed at the Concert for Diana on 1 July 2007, which would have been her 46th Birthday and almost 10 years since she died.
