"Playing With Uranium" is a promotional-only single by Duran Duran, released in Germany from the album Pop Trash by Edel-Hollywood Records on 22 May 2000.
About the song[]
Written by Duran Duran, the song was produced by TV Mania and Simon Le Bon's own record label SYN Productions.
On VH1 Storytellers, Simon said this song was inspired by a true news story he'd read about a "15 year old schoolboy who built a nuclear reactor in his garden shed". The Band was inspired by the David Hahn news story, they recorded & wrote their song Playing with Uranium in 2000.Source
The plan was to release the song in Italy only in 2001, but this never happened. Instead the only release worldwide was a Germany 1-track 5" promo CD single, issued to German radio station for airplay only.
This was the last release of a Duran Duran song by Hollywood Records. In March 2001, the band announced they had parted ways with the record company. Nick Rhodes said "Never was there a place that felt less like a record company: Seven giant dwarves hold up the building". "You're listening to these people, and finally I had to say", 'How funny that your corporate logo is a large pair of ears, yet not one of you in here happens to have any".

Lyrics[]
In for an evening Of light entertainment And who would believe you Could worry the neighbours? Come on over to my place Playing with uranium If it blows up in your face See you on the other side Come on over to my place Playing with uranium Reinvent the human race You just got the invitation We go undiscovered 'Cause people are careless One way or another They'll never forget us Come on over to my place Playing with uranium And if it blows up in your face See you on the other side Come on over to my place Never be the same again Reinvent the human race You just got the invitation Playing with uranium Playing with uranium Never be the same again Because we're playing with uranium
