Pittsburgh Passion is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Sing Blue Silver Tour at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, PA, USA on 28 February 1984.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Civic Arena, a 18,039 capacity venue built in 1961 with the world's first retractable roof for a major indoor sports stadium.
This was the only show performed in the state of Pennsylvania on the tour.
The evening began with opening act Chequered Past, a band featuring vocalist Michael Des Barres who would later perform with The Power Station. The band also included Tony Sales and Nigel Harrison from Blondie, who Duran Duran had previously toured with as the opening act on the 1982 Track's Across America Tour.
Performing during a period of heavy snowstorms in Pittsburgh, Duran Duran launched the show with "Is There Something I Should Know?". A highly energised version of "Hungry Like the Wolf" followed, featuring the bubbly sequencer played by Nick Rhodes.
During the evening, it was announced on stage that Duran Duran had won two Grammy Awards for 'Best Short Form Video' for the Duran Duran Video 45 and 'Best Long Form Video' for Duran Duran (1983 video).
The show finished with "Girls on Film", featuring band introductions.
Ticket prices for the event cost around $12.50.
