O2 Oxford Academy is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded at the O2 Academy in Oxford, UK on 10 September 2011.
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at the O2 Academy, the last of four pre-tour rehearsal shows staged at intimate venues across the UK. The event was held in advance of Duran Duran's upcoming US September dates and the rescheduled British performances of The All You Need Is Now Tour that kicked off in late November.
Fans turned up to the venue from countries including Korea, Germany, Spain, Finland, Austria, Italy and the UK. Doors opened at approx 7:15pm and the band finally appeared on stage at around 9:00pm, to welcoming screams and cheers from the audience.
With Simon Le Bon wearing a casual white T-shirt and jacket, Duran Duran opened the show with four songs from their latest album All You Need Is Now. "Come Undone" from 1993 soon followed, before the band then played more new songs including "Safe". Le Bon asked the audience to sing along with the opening rap of "Safe", which Anna Ross performed (album version recorded by Ana Matronic).
During the evening the crowd pleasing "Shadows on Your Side" was played, which was followed by Le Bon commenting about an Italian fan's suntan and freckles, as an introduction to "Mediterranea".
The show finished with an encore featuring "Girl Panic!" and "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise".
The bootleg is incomplete, missing eight songs from the setlist.
