Nottingham Arena: 06 July 2008 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Red Carpet Massacre Tour at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham, UK on 6 July 2008.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Trent FM Arena, a 10,000 capacity venue located at Bolero Square in the city center. This was the third of four shows performed by the band in the UK during 2008.
In 1981, with just the one single under their belt ("Planet Earth"), Duran Duran made their first visit to Nottingham, with a show at Rock City. Tickets cost £2 and their fee was £1,000.
27 years later and with tickets costing around £40.00, Duran Duran appeared on a short stretch of red carpet at the Trent FM Arena. The band opened with three songs from the Red Carpet Massacre album and their debut single "Planet Earth" soon followed.
Midway through the show the band performed a 20 minute Kraftwerk style electro set, which included a new version of "Last Chance on the Stairway". Also featured was a cover version of The Normal's "Warm Leatherette".
A rousing, rocking double encore of the highly-charged "The Wild Boys" and their ultimately defining hit "Rio" closed out the show.
British rock band The Duke Spirit were the opening act.
The tour poster was designed by Patty Palazzo, with photography by Stephanie Pistel.
