Mix 100 Lounge with Duran Duran is a 30-minute live radio show broadcast by KIMN (Mix 100.3) in Denver, Colorado, USA on 21 April 2011.
About the show[]
Aired at 3pm in Denver, the show was held at the city's Hard Rock Café and produced by a Hot Adult Contemporary station that broadcasts a variety of music.
This was an acoustic performance by Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Dominic Brown and Anna Ross. The show kicked off with words from Le Bon, who said "This is a song about redemption and finding yourself with the help of someone else, someone very loving", before the band launched into "Leave A Light On".
Wearing casual clothes, the band members then answered questions from the audience. Taylor spoke of his desire to return to Colorado and play at Red Rocks, a rock structure in Red Rocks Park (west of Denver) where concerts are given in an open-air amphitheatre.
"All You Need Is Now" was next. "A song about our relationship with you guys, your relationship with us and how we get through it all", Le Bon said to the crowd. More Q&A followed. When asked "What was the biggest influence on All You Need Is Now?", Le Bon answered and cited Mark Ronson: "Ronson had a huge part in the way the album sounded. He galvanised and pulled us in a direction that was adventurous and reminiscent of our early work." John Taylor later added that Bernard Edwards had inspired him as a teenager.
Before finishing the show with "Hungry Like the Wolf", Le Bon described the day he went to audition for Duran Duran. He said he had never been to the Rum Runner before and, with friends' directions, he took a bus from Birmingham University to Broad Street. It was a hot day as he walked down an alleyway next to the nightclub, where a guy was standing by several barrels of beer. The man asked "Are you the singer?". Le Bon thought this was the boss, but it was actually his first ever meeting with Roger Taylor.
