Michael Putland (born 1947, UK) is a British music photographer, whose work has included photographing Duran Duran.

Biography[]

With encouragement from his uncle, Michael began photographing at the age of nine. After leaving school he started working at a London studio (1965-1967), assisting Walter Curtin, a Time-Life photographer, with his photojournalism and commercial advertising work. He was also privileged to work with the racing photographer Louis Klementaski. Later on he started working with the music magazine Disc & Music Echo where his first assignment was Mick Jagger. Whilst his current work is still predominantly portraiture, his sitters are likely to be classical, jazz or world musicians and lifestyle subjects.

Michael's work has featured on various Duran Duran tour programmes and sleeve covers, including the Spanish & French versions of "My Own Way", the Australian & New Zealand editions of Night Versions, and the Duran Duran - BBC In Concert album (see album & single covers and tour programmes).
