Medazzaland Album Live (Reimagined) is an unofficial Duran Duran live album. Produced by Dan7609. Edited from live clips and alternative versions, from May 26 1995 to 11th Dec 1997. The compilation was released as a video on Youtube Jan 23rd 2020. (YouTube).
About the album[]
The album Medazzaland was supposed to have a much rockier edge, but along the way it was felt the music should be more middle of the road and commercial. John and Warren had been working on P.L. You with the intention it would be the lead track - a song inspired by a demo session in the company of The Ramones. The song and Sinner or Saint were dropped, and some songs received alternate versions. It was the intention by the maker of this project, to reimagine what the album could have sounded like, had the original plan gone ahead, and imagining John had never left the band.
The music is a collection of mostly live material, with Midnight Sun being an alternative take. It was felt that all of the songs sounded better live - almost like they were finished off on the road, and this made this whole reimagining possible. Notable differences to the final album include the return of the two lead songs, the insertion of Ball and Chain from the Japanese only release, and a eulogy for Michael Hutchence. The studio album version of Michael You've Got A Lot To Answer For was chosen, as live versions of the song are rare, and often too tearful for this project. The band has never played Undergoing Treatment live.
