Medazzaland was a Duran Duran quarterly fanzine, founded in the UK during 1996.
About the fanzine[]
The fanzine was initially created by Paul Edwards in Upton-by-Chester, UK, between 1996 and 1997. During this period the magazine established a loyal fan base and the editor even received a 'thank you' postcard from Duran Duran. With only basic technology available the quality of photos fluctuated between publications.
In late 1997, Michael Ebelshäuser and Alex Badke took control of Medazzaland and its production moved to Germany. Published with an average of 40-glossy pages, the magazine included interviews, fan reports, reviews, extensive bootleg discography, polls, posters and lots of photos. Still written in English, Medazzaland also featured an exclusive interview with John Taylor shortly after his split from the band, as well as extensive coverage of his solo activities in the US, the UK and Germany. The mag also featured Warren Cuccurullo's Roadrage. Medazzaland was distributed worldwide via mailorder and various outlets such as eil.com and Tower Records in Los Angeles. It also featured in Record Collector magazine. Due to upcoming artist-related online communities Medazzaland ceased publication in mid-2000.
