Maxi Singles Bag - Greece: DDN12MA06680 is a Duran Duran promotional-only monogrammed canvas shoulder bag containing five 12" vinyl singles, released in Greece by EMI Music (Greece) during 1985.
About the maxi singles bag[]
This is limited edition item of 1000 copies, printed with a unique "A View To A Kill" logo. Included are five Greek 12" vinyl pressings, featuring "Planet Earth", "Girls on Film", "Save A Prayer", "The Reflex" and "The Wild Boys".
The Greek pressing of "Girls on Film" is the only official release containing the instrumental Night Version, a track later available on the unofficial Night Version Companion album.
The B-side of "Save A Prayer" contains an error, playing "Hold Back the Rain" (Remix). The sleeve states the track is "Careless Memories", recorded live on tour 1984.
NOTE - The problem with the information about this being a Greek release is the info sheet that came with the package (this copy is in the original plastic bag, hence the reflections); where "Mainline Record Company" was a London based company... ...&, whilst they've changed company names a few times over the years whilst staying at the same address, they specialised in releasing slightly dubious things from the mid-80s & certainly into the 90s that were never quite copyright infringing enough to get them shut down; before seeming to have turned legit in recent years.
Then, whilst obviously not 'proof', this wasn't the only one of these types of packages put together using Greek 12" singles - with, for example, www.passionsjustlikemine.com/disc/smiths-multi.htm showing a similar one put together of maxi-singles by The Smiths.
"Greek satchel bag
A black shoulder bag including five Greek 12"s of the Smiths appeared on the market in the late 1980s. The 12"s included are "How Soon Is Now?", "Bigmouth Strikes Again", "Ask", "Girlfriend In A Coma" and "Sheila Take A Bow". The bag has an 'ironed-on' photo of Morrissey from the Smiths days on it."
