Mark Santangelo is an American mastering engineer, whose work has included Duran Duran's Red Carpet Massacre album.
Biography[]
Mark's mastering career began in 2000 when he was hired by Sony Music Studios as an assistant mastering engineer. While actively assisting many of the senior engineers, Mark was also trained in the art of vinyl cutting and became the go-to cutting engineer on many of the top vinyl releases during that time. In 2004, his career jumped to another level when he was approached by mastering engineer Vlado Meller to be his full-time assistant. When Vlado joined Universal Mastering Studios in 2007, he insisted on bringing Mark so as to maintain a continuity of excellence and service.
Mark's involvement on Vlado's mastering projects has been complete and essential. In addition to his own mastering projects, including albums by SA-RA, Spokinn Movement, Aqualung, and a co-mastering credit with Vlado on Neil Diamond's Home Before Dark, Mark has partnered with Vlado on projects for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Johnny Cash, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Shakira, The White Stripes, Andrea Bocelli and Duran Duran.
