Madrid 2005 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Astronaut Tour at La Riviera in Madrid, Spain on 22 May 2005.

About the album[]

The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at La Riviera, a 15,000 capacity venue located in the city center. This was the last of three dates in Spain on the tour.

The sound of analogue synthesizer beats began show, with the original five band members standing in line at the front of the stage.

With Simon Le Bon singing "the music between us…", the band then broke into "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise", the first single taken from Astronaut. Lights rotated and gyrated in every possible direction, enhanced with images projected at the back of the stage.

As the setlist unfolded, Duran Duran treated fans to songs from Rio, including the B-side "Hold Back the Rain".

"The Wild Boys" was played near the end of the show, a song covered by the band Phixx. This lead into an encore after a short pause, which drew the concert to an end with "Girls on Film" featuring band intros.

Concert tickets cost around €33, which were printed with a photo of Duran Duran by Richard Haughton.
