Live At Capitain Video Paris is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The First European Tour at the Captain Video Club in Paris, France on 8 September 1981.

About the album[]

The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Captain Video Club, a venue later known as Studio Gabriel that's located at 9 Avenue Gabriel, 75008 in Paris.

This was Duran Duran's first ever show in France, which was part of a short tour that started in Belgium the day before. Whilst in continental Europe, the band made TV appearances and also performed the Amsterdam show, before flying to play their first dates in the USA.

The band's record label EMI spent £9,000 on promoting this event, plus another £2,000 on travel expenses to ferry Duran Duran fans from Birmingham's Rum Runner nightclub to Paris to ensure there was a crowd.

The album's recording was taken from a radio broadcast of the show in France, which includes a French DJ speaking between some of the songs.

Some of these live tracks are also available on other bootlegs, such as the cover version Bowie's "Fame" which features on Perfect Days: Now And Then.

The event poster features Duran Duran photography by Fin Costello.
