Lisbon 2005 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Astronaut Tour at the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, Portugal on 24 May 2005.
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Coliseu dos Recreios, a 7,000 capacity venue built in 1890 and located in downtown Rua (Street) das Portas de Santo Antão, 96. This was the only show in Portugal on the tour.
Duran Duran returned to Lisbon after a gap of almost 23 years, having played their one and only previous tour of Portugal during 1982. This show was especially significant to John Taylor, as he hadn't been able to perform on the previous date due to a damaged hand that he had put through a glass lamp.
After the original five band members appeared on stage and stood at the front for several minutes, the 2 hour show started on a high point with a hard-edged version of "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise".
Duran Duran then followed with "Hungry Like the Wolf", taking the audience back to 1982.
No one remained seated as the band cranked out the tunes from their extensive back catalogue. A fast, screaming guitar performance of "Careless Memories" was followed by a heavy version of "The Wild Boys".
"Girls on Film" featuring a shutter-clicking intro, then "Rio" closed out the show.
The concert poster features photography by Richard Haughton.
