Las Vegas Hard Rock Opening is an unofficial Duran Duran album, featuring songs recorded at the Grand Opening Party, Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, NV, USA on 10 March 1995.

About the album[]

The album begins with Duran Duran's performance at the Grand Opening Party of the Hard Rock Hotel, an entertainment resort located at 4455 Paradise Road in Las Vegas.

The Hard Rock Hotel tracks are soundboard recordings taken from a Europa Plus (Russia) FM radio broadcast, which includes all of Simon Le Bon's spoken words translated into Russian.

The event featured Duran Duran's first live performance of Lou Reed's "Perfect Day", a song included on the album Thank You released several weeks later.

The version of "Hungry Like the Wolf" is totally different, performed in a punk style similar to the live "Anyone Out There" from some 1982 shows.

The bonus tracks are 1995 B-sides and rare recordings. "Thank You" is different from the album version, taken from the With Honors soundtrack. "Diamond Dogs" (Alternate Mix) comes from the People Like You CD. "Ordinary World" is an acoustic live performance taken off the "Lay Lady Lay" Italian CD single, performed by Simon Le Bon and Warren Cuccurullo on BBC Radio One.
