Kasper de Graaf is a writer, editor and producer.
Biography[]
Kasper is a journalist by training, who edited New Sounds New Styles magazine and The Business of Film and was production editor of Smash Hits. He produced documentaries for Paul McCartney and worked with artists including Steven Appleby (Captain Star) and Brian Wood (The Cramp Twins) to develop books and TV animation. He has written books about 1980s pop bands Culture Club and Duran Duran, including the first published Duran Duran biography in 1982 and more recently Duran Duran Unseen with co-author Malcolm Garrett and photographer Paul Edmond, who both also worked for New Sounds New Styles. From 1983, in partnership with Malcolm Garrett, he built up the design studio Assorted Images into the largest music and popular culture design studio in London, designing brands, packaging, merchandise, exhibitions, film and TV graphics and publications for clients who, in addition to Duran Duran, included Culture Club and Boy George, Simple Minds, Heaven 17, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Yes, Spandau Ballet, The Smiths, ABC, Royal Shakespeare Company, London Symphony Orchestra, Design Museum, Michael Clark Company, The Last Resort with Jonathan Ross and Network 7 TV.
Kasper has produced award-winning public information schemes at the Science Museum, Birmingham's Children Hospital, the UK Borders and in numerous cities including London, Glasgow, Vancouver and Istanbul. He is CEO of design group Images&Co, partnerships director of Design Manchester and director of 2NQ, a place-based cultural organisation in London. Kasper is Vice Chair of the Finsbury Park Trust, Trustee of the Little Foundation and steering board member of the UK Design Action Plan. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of BAFTA and the Society of Authors.
