KROQ Inland Invasion is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Reunion Tour at the KROQ Inland Invasion III, Hyundai Pavilion in San Bernardino, CA, USA on 20 September 2003.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at Hyundai Pavilion, a 65,000-seat amphitheater located in the hills of Glen Helen Regional Park.
Held at the largest outdoor amphitheater in the United States, the show was part of an annual autumn rock festival with a retro theme focus, organised by the Los Angeles based KROQ radio. The event featured two stages, with Duran Duran scheduled to perform at 8:00pm on the Main Stage.
The 11-hour event was headlined by the Cure, a band which has remained relatively creative through the years. Duran Duran followed the Canadian alternative rock band Hot Hot Heat, opening with "Friends of Mine" taken from the debut album Duran Duran.
Duran Duran then launched into "Hungry Like the Wolf", unfortunately Simon Le Bon was experiencing a malfunctioning earpiece and there was a lengthy downtime between the first two songs.
The setlist was a balance of hits, album cuts and new songs. The new songs showcased were "What Happens Tomorrow" and "Virus".
Near the end of the evening, Duran Duran delivered energetic renditions of "The Wild Boys" and an encore featuring "Girls on Film".
Tickets for the event cost around $40.00 plus applicable charges.
