José Nunez is an American electronic and house music producer, whose work has included Duran Duran mixes.
Biography[]
José was born into a family of musicians, experiencing Latin and Jazz music from an early age which later surfaced in his music making, although Nuñez forte is his versatility. Between 1995 and 1997 José was busy with many projects, including his first solo record Millennium Volume 1 (Cutting Records). The album was completely original and experimental, which originated from his association with a production company called Millennium Music. Although José was still finding his direction as a producer, this project received a warm response, particularly the track "Everybody Reach". The turning point in José's musical production that brought him closer to his current sound was his next project "U-High?" / "Feel It", which was part of the Nights of the Roundtable self-titled EP (Gossip Records).
In 1998 he hit the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts twice, first hitting no.1 with "In My Life." The follow-up "Hold On" hit no.9 later that year. Lead vocals on both tracks were by singer Octahvia, sometimes referred to as Octavia or Octah'via, and the songs are officially credited to José Nuñez featuring Octahvia. With producer Harry Choo Choo Romero he had another Top 10 dance hit "Cro-Magnon (What About Our Love)," under the moniker Constipated Monkeys.
In 2002 Jose released "Air Race", a single which used original samples of Duran Duran's "My Own Way". Other work includes the Parisian Mix and the S.O.S. Dub mixes of "Skin Trade" with Daniel Abraham for S.O.S. Productions.
