Jan 30, 2004: Laurie Auditorium, San Antonio, Texas is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Reunion Tour at the Laurie Auditorium in San Antonio, TX, USA on 30 January 2004.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Laurie Auditorium, a 2,865 capacity venue located on the campus of Trinity University in the Monte Vista Historic District. This was the third of four shows performed in the state of Texas on the tour.
After a successful stint Down Under with Robbie Williams, where the band performed a series of concerts in Australia and finished 2003 with the sold out Singapore show, the toured moved to Texas.
Two days before playing the NFL Superbowl XXXVIII Tailgate Party, Duran Duran walked onto the stage at the Laurie Auditoriumand and stood there together for several minutes whilst the crowd applauded.
They soon launched the show with "Friends of Mine", a track taken from the band's debut album Duran Duran. Halfway through the song, Simon Le Bon yelled "Stop" numerous times, untill finally the band stopped playing. This was due to technical difficulties with his earpiece. Duran Duran then played the song again from the beginning.
"Hungry Like the Wolf" was next, a much-loved song from 80s that got the crowd singing along.
Just before "Come Undone"', Le Bon apologised to the audience for the band being a bit rusty tonight. He said that they were all trying to recover from eating too much stuffing over Christmas time.
Later into the show, Duran Duran performed "Beautiful Colours", an unreleased track recorded during Astronaut album demo sessions.
Concluding the night was "Rio", featuring John Amato playing saxophone.
Tickets for the event cost around $65.00
The bootleg front cover features Duran Duran photography by Richard Haughton.
