"I Feel Love" is a single by Donna Summer, released in 1977. This was the first song sung by Simon Le Bon as lead singer of Duran Duran.
About the song[]
The song is taken from Donna's 1977 concept album I Remember Yesterday and features an entirely electronic backing track that helped to pioneer electronic disco music. The single reached no.1 on the UK Singles Chart and no.6 on the Billboard Hot 100. It quickly became popular in gay dance clubs and was adopted as a gay anthem.
On 10 August 2001 Simon Le Bon answered an Ask Katy question about the very first song he sang live in front of an audience as lead singer for Duran Duran. He said "It was a cover of "I Feel Love" originally by Donna Summer. It was July 16th 1980 at the Rum Runner club in Birmingham, we came onstage to "Tomorrow Belongs To Me" the Hitler Youth song from Cabaret. I was so nervous the entire left hand side of my body was shaking for the duration of the show. Duran Duran would later cover the song again, including a performance at the 2005 Birmingham City concert during The Astronaut Tour.
