Greatest: Live At Wembley 1998 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Greatest and Latest Tour at Wembley Arena in London, UK on 21 December 1998.
About the album[]
The album is an incomplete recording of Duran Duran's performance at Wembley Arena, a 12,500 capacity indoor venue located opposite Wembley Stadium which hosted Live Aid. This was the only show performed in London on the tour.
After embarking on their first UK tour for five years, Duran Duran launched the final show with their debut single "Planet Earth".
The bootleg continues with the Bond-movie theme "A View to a Kill". Filmed for Japanese TV, the next song "Come Undone" features Tessa Niles singing backing vocals on her only appearance on the tour.
During the evening, "Secret Oktober" was performed as a slow version. All the other songs were played in their original 'album' or 'single' versions, with no different arrangements.
The evening closed with "Rio", which saw Simon Le Bon introduce special guest Andy Hamilton, who then performed a saxophone solo on his only appearance on the tour. At the end of "Rio", ticker tape fell from the ceiling of the arena.
Tickets for the event cost around £20.00.
The album is missing "Is There Something I Should Know?" and "Virginia Plain" from the show.
