The album was marketed, manufactured and distributed by EMI. The compilation features sampler music from the German music video programme Formel Eins, which was broadcast on ARD from 1983 to 1990.

The record was part of a series of 49 and reached no.1 on the German album chart.

Duran Duran's 14th single "Notorious is included, a single released on 20 October 1986.

Also featured is James Bond actress Grace Jones, who contributed to Arcadia's So Red the Rose. Don Johnson's "Heartbeat" is also available on the Heartbeat album.
