Ellen von Unwerth (born 1954 in Germany) is a photographer and film director, specializing in erotic femininity. Her work has included photography for Duran Duran.

Biography[]

After a decade as a fashion model, Ellen brought a first-hand knowledge of the kinetic energy of fashion photo shoots to her own photographs. She first photographed Claudia Schiffer for Guess Jeans in the early 1990s, which launched Ellen's commercial career and subsequently she has created campaigns for Baccardi, Victoria's Secret, Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, Diesel, Chanel, Miu Miu, Blumarine as well as a series of publicity advertisements for HBO's Sex and the City. Ellen has also directed short films for Azzedine Alaïa and Katherine Hamnett, music videos and commercials for Baccardi and Clinique.

During the 1990s Ellen did photography for Duran Duran, which included work for the 1999 Liberty album, "Violence of Summer (Love's Taking Over)" single and the "White Lines" single. She also directed the band's videos for "Electric Barbarella" (1997) and "Femme Fatale" (1993).
