Echo Arena, Liverpool: July 05, 2008 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Red Carpet Massacre Tour at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK on 5 July 2008.

About the album

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Echo Arena, a 11,000 capacity venue located on the former King's Dock at 16 Monarchs Quay in Liverpool. This was the second of four UK shows performed by the band in 2008.

The show was also part of Liverpool's 'Summer Pops 08' festival, an event which featured performances by artists in one venue over consecutive nights throughout July.

More than 25 years had passed since Duran Duran last played Liverpool, and now a four piece following Andy Taylor’s departure. The Saturday evening show began with "The Valley" from the Red Carpet Massacre album, sung with enthusiasm from Simon Le Bon.

Four tracks in and the opening bars of 80s singles "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Planet Earth" reassured the audience that this was not a night for showcasing only new material.

The tempo slowed a little for the Justin Timberlake produced "Falling Down", before Le Bon introduced a "song for romantics – new romantics and old romantics", the haunting 90s ballad "Come Undone".

John Taylor later added "It's been way too long since this band graced Liverpool’s streets", before telling the audience to light up their mobile phones for "Save A Prayer".

Before the final encore song of "Rio", the band threw red merchandise to the audience and mentioned Liverpool football club, who play in red.

The opening act were The Real People.

Tickets for the event cost around £55.00.
