Duran Duran Appreciation Day is an annual worldwide event that celebrates Duran Duran, held on 10 August.

About the event[]

Created by a Michigan radio disc jockey because it coincided with his birthday, August 10 has been Duran Duran Appreciation Day. In 2003 YM Magazine spread the story, and it became a nationally recognized event from that point.[1] The first mention of the event online also seems to be 2003.

Fans celebrate worldwide, taking part in official trivia contests on Twitter and an all-day party at Second Life. Duran Duran members also reflect on the 35 years since the band's formation and post messages to their fans on the Internet.

In 2013, Duran fan Durandy even sent a cake and cupcakes decorated in honor of the band and its special day to local radio DJs. Also in 2013, the band shared video and MP3 downloads of its performance of "The Reflex" from London's Hyde Park, recorded on 27 July 2012.
