Karl Daniel (also known as Dready, aka JD, born Aston, Birmingham UK) is a British remixer, DJ singer and record producer, who is dubbed the British Busta Rhymes. His work has included remixing Duran Duran's "Nice".
Biography[]
Dready was born in Aston, Birmingham, (UK), was always around music when he was growing up. His parents were reggae artists so he was practicing his skill in his fathers studio from an early age. At the age of five he supported reggae artist John Holt in concert. During his childhood years he mastered the drums, keyboards, saxophone, double bass and any piece of electrical equipment he could get his hands on. So good was he on the drum machines that at primary school he took some music classes with skills outweighing those of his teachers. After leaving school, Dready set up dancehall label Roar in the 1990s and after his studio was robbed in 2001 he headed to London to try and crack the mainstream music industry.
Shortly after his move, he met up with Megaman on the photoshoot for "You Don't Know", and began producing tracks for the So Solid Crew artists and in turn a whole heap of the hottest names on the UK urban block, such as Romeo, Lisa Maffia and Asher D.
Since achieving the no.2 spot with Lisa Maffia's track "All Over" in 2001, which Dready produced he has since remixed songs for Mis-teeq, Lemar, Asher D, Beverley Knight, Ms Dynamite and Duran Duran.
