Culture: July 2011 is a free bi-monthly youth lifestyle magazine published in the UK, which features an exclusive interview with Andy Taylor.
About the magazine[]
Founded by entrepreneur Glynn Pegler in 2000, Culture was launched as a regional glossy magazine in 2001, with partners including the Prince's Trust and the Millennium Commission. The magazine features articles on music, fashion, sports, advice, health care, films, and other topics.
In Culture: July 2011, Simon Rushworth talks to Andy Taylor about his recollections of performing in Duran Duran, his subsequent musical adventures and his love of his native North East.
The interview begins with Taylor talking about growing up in Cullercoats, North Tyneside and all he dreamt of was emultating guitar heros as deverse of Paul McCartney, Tony Iommi, Paul Kossoft, and Jimmy Page. He goes on to describe the day when Duran Duran performed at the Roskilde 2005 Festival in Norway and that it would live long in the memory. The band had earlier played Live 8 in Rome and jumped on a plane to Scandinavia, to perform their second set of the day. When they arrived at the Roskilde Festival, the Foo Fighters were on stage and finished with a cover version of "Rio".
Taylor also mentioned that he was planning to release a rock-oriented solo album in late 2011.
