Chicago 3-22-01 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Up Close and Personal Tour at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL, USA on 22 March 2001.

About the album[]

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the House of Blues in Chicago, a 1,300 capacity venue located at 329 N. Dearborn Street. This was the third of five shows held at the venue on the tour.

Opening this Tuesday evening show at 9:00pm with Pop Trash's "Silva Halo", Duran Duran then delivered "Union of the Snake" complete with its Bowie "Let's Dance" bass drum pattern.

The band made history in Chicago during this week, by playing five consecutive sold-out shows at the House of Blues though to Saturday.

Duran Duran, now composed of original members Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes, along with Warren Cuccurullo on guitar, played a rousing 90-minute show that featured a selection of their biggest hits, album favorites and songs from their latest release, Pop Trash.

The setlist showcased the group's style, blending pop rock, experimental, New Romantic and New Wave, through the years.

Audience members who watched from the crowded dance floor in front of the stage, sang and swayed to the energetic songs for the full 90 minutes.

During the evening, Le Bon sang his tribute to the late INXS singer Michael Hutchence, with a performance of "Michael, You've Got a Lot to Answer For".

The band plowed through hit after hit, including "I Don't Want Your Love", "Notorious", "Come Undone", and "Ordinary World".

"Girls on Film" featured a powerful drum performance by Joe Travers, who later added that he was very happy to be given the chance to play the piece.

Duran Duran closed the show at 10:30pm with "Rio", a song that had everyone dancing.

Tickets for the event cost around $43.50.
