Musicians |
Chauffeur was an electronic band formed by Mark Ronson in 2009. The band performed with members of Duran Duran.
History[]
The band comprised of Australian singer/song writer Sam Sparro, Brooklyn-based rapper Theophilus London and British music producer/DJ Mark Ronson.
The group came together in 2009 as the musical component to Ronson's line of shoes, which he designed for Gucci. The shoes were the first product to be endorsed by Ronson.
The group's had an elegant style with a 1980s synthesizer sound, that Ronson attributed to working with Nick Rhodes during the production of All You Need Is Now. Ronson named the group after "The Chauffeur" by Duran Duran.
Chauffeur released two songs, the first to debut was "Soles of Fire". This track was issued as a limited edition 12" vinyl record, which was included with purchases of the special Gucci/Ronson shoes. The second song released was a 2010 cover version of Sheila E.'s "Glamorous Life". This track is an example of Ronson's ability to do retro with a modern twist.
On 21 April 2010, the group performed in London at the Gucci Icon Temporary store opening afterparty. Held at Ronnie Scott's, the event featured Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes performing on a cover version of "The Chauffeur".
