Bob Ludwig is an American Grammy winning mastering engineer, whose work has included Duran Duran's Notorious album.
Biography[]
Bob is a classical musician by training, having obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degree from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester in New York, where he was also involved in the sound department and played Principal Trumpet with the Utica Symphony Orchestra. His professional career began in 1967 at A&R Recording in New York and after two years which included his first big single "Kentucky Woman" by Neil Diamond, he moved to Sterling Sound (New York) where he eventually rose to become a Vice-President. After seven years at Sterling, he then moved to its larger direct competitor Masterdisk, where he was Vice President and Chief Engineer.
At the Masterdisk Corporation, Bob continued mastering hit records including U2, Phil Collins, Sting, The Police, Bryan Adams and Barbra Streisand. He also mastered Duran Duran's Notorious album and Arcadia's So Red the Rose.
In 1993 Bob left Masterdisk and opened his own business Gateway Mastering Studios in Portland, Maine, which became instant success by winning the 1994 TEC Awards for Mastering Facility and Mastering Engineer, the first full year it was eligible.
