Bob Lamb is a British record producer and musician, whose work has included producing and recording early demos for bands such as UB40 and Duran Duran.

Biography

Bob grew up in the Kings Heath, Moseley area of Birmingham, UK, and was the drummer in The Steve Gibbons Band in the 1970s. They were a Birmingham band comprising of guitarist/vocalist Steve Gibbons, bass player Trevor Burton, Bob Wilson, Dave Carroll and Bob Lamb. Their record releases included the album Down In The Bunker. In the late 1970s the band had just finished touring the USA and were having a month off when Steve Gibbons called the members to a meeting, informing them that the group was finishing with the existing line-up, but would continue with Steve and Trevor Burton.

After this period Bob set up a 4-track recording/mixing studio in his ground floor bed-sit flat at 68 Cambridge Road in Moseley, Birmingham. In 2009 this house is a newly refurbished property and is affectionately known as the "Home of the Hits".

Duran Duran:
Bob was part of Duran Duran's early sound, producing demos for their first two albums including recordings for "Planet Earth", "Girls on Film" and "Save a Prayer" as well as the 1979 Demo. He is also one of the few people who has worked with all four Duran Duran singer, Jeff Thomas, Andy Wickett, Simon Le Bon, and Stephen Duffy (includes producing Duffy's solo single "Kiss Me").

UB40:
British band UB40 recorded their first album Signing Off at Bob Lamb's Cambridge Road studios. The album features the hit single "Food For Thought" and the song "King" written about Martin Luther King.

Reckless Ltd:
Reckless Ltd is a company located in the Highbury Road, Kings Heath, Mosley area of Birmingham, owned and run by Bob Lamb. The company owns two recording studios, Studio 1 which comprises of 16-track analogue equipment, giving warm retro sounds and also having a live room. The second is Studio 2 featuring a state of art Pro Tools equipment, a modern environment and live room.
