Biography[edit | edit source]
Bob grew up in the Kings Heath, Moseley area of Birmingham, UK, and was the drummer in The Steve Gibbons Band in the 1970s. They were a Birmingham band comprising of guitarist/vocalist Steve Gibbons, bass player Trevor Burton, Bob Wilson, Dave Carroll and Bob Lamb. Their record releases included the album Down In The Bunker. In the late 1970s the band had just finished touring the USA and were having a month off when Steve Gibbons called the members to a meeting, informing them that the group was finishing with the existing line-up, but would continue with Steve and Trevor Burton.
After this period Bob set up a 4-track recording/mixing studio in his ground floor bed-sit flat at 68 Cambridge Road in Moseley, Birmingham. In 2009 this house is a newly refurbished property and is affectionately known as the "Home of the Hits".
Bob was part of Duran Duran's early sound, producing demos for their first two albums including recordings for "Planet Earth", "Girls on Film" and "Save a Prayer" as well as the 1979 Demo. He is also one of the few people who has worked with all four Duran Duran singer, Jeff Thomas, Andy Wickett, Simon Le Bon, and Stephen Duffy (includes producing Duffy's solo single "Kiss Me").
