Birmingham Odeon 1982 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Rio Tour at the Odeon Theatre in New Street, Birmingham, UK on 1 December 1982.

About the album[]

The album is a recording of Duran Duran's performance at the Odeon Theatre, a 2,439 capacity venue located in the city centre at 139 New Street. This was the last show of twenty seven dates performed in the UK on the tour.

Located about 1 mile from the Rum Runner nightclub, Duran Duran held a record signing session at the HMV music shop almost next door to the Odeon Theatre a few days earlier.

This was the last ever show Duran Duran played at Birmingham's New Street Odeon Theatre, which was part of five sold out dates at the venue on the tour. Played in the band's home town, the audience included family members and friends.

The quality of the album recording is regarded as one of the best during the tour and is complete. In the late 1982 UK shows, the band didn't play the punk version of "Anyone Out There", and during The Rio Tour they never played "The Chauffeur".

Tickets for the event cost around £4.50.

The album front cover features Duran Duran photography by Brian Aris.
