Bercy Paris 1988 is an unofficial Duran Duran live album, recorded during The Big Live Thing Tour at Bercy in Paris, France on 21 November 1988.
About the album[]
The album is a recording of Duran Duran performance at Bercy, a 17,000 capacity venue also called the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy (often abbreviated as POPB or Bercy) and located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. This was the second of two shows performed in France on the tour.
Two days after performing as The Krush Brothers in France at La Locomotive show, Duran Duran took to the stage for their second French concert on the tour.
Supported by guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, drummer Sterling Campbell, two horn players and two backing singers, Duran Duran kicked off with the title track to their latest release Big Thing.
Soon "Hungry Like the Wolf" had the audience singing along during the chorus. A new song "Do You Believe In Shame?" followed, written by Simon Le Bon for three of the band's fallen friends: record producer Alex Sadkin, artist Andy Warhol, and Le Bon's childhood friend David Miles.
During the evening, Duran Duran romped through their catalogue of hits including "Notorious", "Is There Something I Should Know?", "The Wild Boys" and "Save A Prayer".
A rousing, rocking double encore of the highly-charged "The Reflex" and their ultimately defining hit "Rio" closed out the show.
Tickets for the event cost around 120 French Francs.
