Backstreet Symphony is the debut album by Thunder, produced by Andy Taylor and released by EMI / Geffen Records on 4 April 1990.

About the album[]

With producer Andy Taylor, the album features many blues-rock and atmospheric ballads, that became a success in the UK helped by an appearance at the 1990 Monsters of Rock festival at Donington Park. Included are two songs co-written by Taylor, who also performed 12-string guitar on "Until My Dying Day".

The band achieved its first two UK Top 30 hits with singles from this album; the title track reached no.25 and, the following year, "Love Walked In" reached no.21. The album was later certified 'Silver' by the BPI. In 1991, it was released by EMI in Japan with a bonus disc of live tracks. In 2009, to coincide with the bands retirement tour, a 2 disc version was released, with bonus tracks and live recordings.

The album features photography by Andy Earl, who is credited on Duran Duran's Rio album.
