BT London Live - Opening Ceremony Celebration Concert is an Olympic Games related event featuring Duran Duran, held in Hyde Park, London, UK on 27 July 2012.
About the concert[]
This was an open-air celebration concert that coincided with the key opening moment of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Opening Ceremony. The event was a partnership between the Mayor of London, The Royal Parks and The London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
Snow Patrol, Stereophonics, Duran Duran and Paolo Nutini headlined the show. Duran Duran were chosen to represent musical talent from England, alongside acts representing Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. These four countries form the UK.
Ticket-holders in Hyde Park saw some of the UK's biggest bands exclusively live on stage, with performances timed so that they also watched live coverage of the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on giant screens.
Tickets for the BT London Live Opening Ceremony Celebration Concert went on sale to the general public on Friday 4 May at 9:00am, priced at £60.00 plus booking fee.
Duran Duran previously performed at the Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games, held at the Piazza Castello on 15 February 2006.
