Housed in a plain white sleeve and issued with cue sheets for radio presenters, the album was used for licence broadcast on 31 October 1983.
''BBC Rock Hour - 444 was released in two versions, an unhosted version A and Ronnie James Dio hosting version B.
This was the second Annual Salute To Halloween Show and featured songs with connections to the event observed on October 31, which commonly includes activities such as trick-or-treating.
The album includes commercials for Coors Lite Beer, Agree, Certs and the US Army Reserve. Also featured is Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf", a song written and recorded quickly by the band on a Saturday afternoon in the spring of 1982 at the basement studios of EMI's London headquarters.
